About the Journal

AIM Theory & Practice in Rural Education  is an online open access peer-reviewed journal published in partnership with ECU Library Services and ECU Rural Education Institute. It is published twice a year, spring and fall. Originally titled the Journal of Curriculum and Instruction, Theory & Practice in Rural Education has evolved into a journal focusing on the needs of rural students, educators, community partners, and schools. Research Forum and Practice Forum are the two main sections of the journal.

SCOPE The editors of the journal are predominantly interested in manuscripts related to promising and effective educational practices in rural schools, educator preparation for rural P-16 institutions, and issues related to distinct rural populations. We invite several types of articles and/or multimedia creations, including those with an international focus: practice-based; educational innovations; partnerships for education; research-based articles; review articles; and book reviews focusing on rural education. Please see author’s guidelines for additional submission information.
